How to write a Descriptive Essay

When writing a descriptive essay, you must clearly understand and use such feelings as sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.

If you describe the object  using all these parameters – it is already half of your success.

  • The first thing you should do if you want to write a qualitative descriptive essay is to imagine yourself a reader. Do you understand what you are reading? Do you imagine objects you read about? Do you know what size is it, taste or color? Can you imagine what sound this object produces? If not, then it is worth re-read and improve the written paragraph
  • Create a basic position. In your work there should be a leading theme and idea that penetrates the entire work from entry to conclusion. Can you trace them? If not, than you already know, what to do.
  • Think about the structure. Typically, such essay should contain 5 paragraphs, including introduction and conclusions. This size is standard for schools, but universities give students more freedom – here you are not limited in the number of paragraphs of  your story. Have you distributed your key points well? And is there a clear sense? Doesn’t the main idea stand out? Check it out.
  • Write persuasive conclusions. Remember that this is the last point your reader will see. And it  , most likely, will be remembered the most. Repeat your lead idea again in the conclusion. Give it  an expressive tone and write so that this phrase becomes the main association with your work.
